Intersection Accident on State Route 113

An intersection accident in Woodland on June 14 caused moderate injuries to at least one person when their vehicle struck a tree. The crash was reported on southbound State Route 113 at its intersection with County Road 17 around 5:27 a.m. Yolo County Fire Department responders were called to the scene by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) when it was discovered eight occupants required medical attention.

At Least One Person Transported to the Hospital With Injuries

One man had pain in his head after striking it during the collision. Medics determined that the man had suffered moderate injuries. He was transported to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vacaville for further evaluation. The CHP traffic reports are available to those involved in the collision.

Causes of an Intersection Accident With a Tree

Accidents involving collisions at intersections with trees can occur for a variety of reasons, including the following:

  • Driver negligence is the leading cause of intersection accidents with trees. Drivers who are distracted by their cell phones, not paying attention to traffic signals or signs, driving recklessly or speeding or disregarding traffic laws can all contribute to an accident with a tree.
  • Driver inexperience or fatigue can also lead to an intersection crash, as these drivers may not have the proper judgment or reflexes needed to maneuver their vehicle safely.
  • Mechanical failure is another common cause of intersection collisions with trees. Brake and steering system failures can make it difficult for a driver to maintain control of their vehicle in an emergency situation, leading to an accident. Retaining the vehicle following an accident allows it to be examined for defects that might have led to the accident. In these instances, the manufacturer and others in the production line might be held liable through an auto product liability lawsuit.
  • Environmental factors such as poor visibility due to inclement weather or bright sunlight can also lead to intersection accidents with trees. In addition, road conditions like potholes and upheavals in the pavement can cause a vehicle to spin out of control and crash into a tree. When government maintenance is lacking and causes an accident, the entity in charge may be held responsible. However, because the time limit to file such a claim is only six months, enlisting the help of an accident attorney is a good idea.
