Don Julio Boulevard and Walerga Road Site of Rollover Crash
An injury was reported in an intersection crash in North Highlands on July 6 near Allison Elementary School. The crash happened around 7:22 p.m. between two vehicles at the intersection of Don Julio Boulevard and Walerga Road. It resulted in a rollover of one of the cars involved, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) report. An accident investigation is being conducted by the CHP to determine how the intersection crash occurred.
Details of the Intersection Crash
The North Highlands accident involved two sedans, and the collision blocked traffic. One party ended up stuck in his vehicle, which had rolled over on its side and required emergency extrication by Sacramento Fire Department responders. The driver of that vehicle admitted that he had caused the traffic collision. Minor injuries were reported in the intersection accident, and it is unknown whether the injured parties requested to be taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
Intersection Accidents
Two and one-half million intersection accidents happen annually. This represents 40 percent of all accidents, just below rear-end collisions in terms of frequency. Of all crashes, 50 percent of those considered serious happen in intersections. In addition, intersections are the site of 20 percent of fatal accidents.
With such odds, it is important that drivers use caution and yield to pedestrians and cyclists who are also part of the intersection traffic. It is also essential that government agencies in charge of the upkeep of intersections prevent loss of visibility for drivers.
Rollover Accidents
A rollover accident is considered one of the most dangerous types of auto crashes. This designation is partly derived from the risk of being thrown from the vehicle, especially when the individual is not wearing a seatbelt. It can also happen when the seatbelt is defective and gives way. This situation can result in a product liability lawsuit against the seatbelt manufacturer.
Another issue that causes loss of life and catastrophic injuries occurs when the roof is unable to support the weight of the vehicle. This defect is referred to as a roof crush. Manufacturers are obligated to use support systems that withstand two or more times the vehicle’s weight. When this requirement is not adhered to, the manufacturer is negligent and can be held responsible for the loss of life or injuries.
It is important to preserve the vehicle after a rollover accident. This is necessary so our forensic experts are able to examine the vehicle for defects or other forms of negligence.
Auto Accident Investigations
Evidence to prove negligence is important to obtain compensation for an accident injury. Our investigators go to the intersection accident scene as quickly as possible to do just that. Intersections often have traffic surveillance cameras, which can provide proof on how the collision occurred and indicate who was at fault. In addition, our investigators talk to the witnesses and review the report filed by the police to look for mistakes. In some cases, they perform accident reconstruction, which demonstrates to the insurance company or jurors how the collision occurred. Once the evidence is acquired, it is turned over to our experienced attorneys who use it to build a robust case that favors our client.
