Laytonville Crash Causes Severe Injuries
On Friday, September 25, 2020, at least one person suffered severe trauma during a Laytonville crash. Ukiah area California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the collision happened in the morning on Highway 101 just south of the small city of Laytonville. While information about the number of injured individuals has not been reported, police indicated that a medical helicopter was called into the crash scene and filed the incident as a major injury accident.
Crash Information
The accident occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. on the northbound side of Highway 101 near mile marker 66. Information from CHP reports indicated that the collision involved two sedans and that the vehicles collided head-on. Photos taken at the site of the crash show serious damage to both vehicles.
After the accident occurred, it was reported to CHP dispatch. After learning about the crash, CHP immediately dispatched a team of emergency responders to the site. Response officials reaching the accident scene determined that at least one individual had sustained critical injuries and called for a REACH helicopter ambulance.
Investigation
CHP has stated that they have officers actively investigating what factors could have caused this accident. So far, no suspected collision factors have been mentioned by investigating officers. In collisions involving multiple vehicles, there are also often multiple causal factors, and investigating these accidents can be challenging. Furthermore, car accidents frequently involve causes that lie outside of driver control, such as issues with dangerous roads or malfunctioning car parts.
Head-On Accidents
In head-on car accidents, both vehicles transfer their full momentum into each other. This means that these crashes involve a very high amount of force and are very likely to cause extreme damage. Even though cars are typically designed to absorb front-end impacts, head-on crashes that occur at highway speeds usually result in critical or fatal injuries.
Because these injuries are so severe, the process of recovery can be very difficult. Car accident survivors often need to go through numerous medical procedures that can involve invasive surgeries. Furthermore, the medical care necessary for accident survivors can be very expensive. Affording these medical expenses can be hard, especially if your trauma has affected your income. Altogether, these issues can leave accident survivors feeling unsure of how they will be able to recover and move on with their lives.
Calling an Attorney
For the reasons described above, it’s very important for crash survivors to reach out to a Ukiah, personal injury lawyer. With the help of an attorney, many people are able to cover their medical costs and other damages related to their accident injuries. An experienced lawyer will be able to investigate your accident and help you hold negligent parties accountable. However, accident claims can be complicated and at-fault parties may try to avoid responsibility. Because of this, you should reach out to a lawyer as soon as you possibly can.
