Suspected Brentwood DUI Causes Trauma
On Sunday, March 1, 2020, a suspected DUI in Brentwood caused severe injuries. Officers of the Brentwood Police Department (BPD) stated that two people suffered injuries during the crash, but that neither individual sustained life-threatening trauma. Additionally, police indicated that driving under the influence is a suspected factor in this collision.
Collision Details
The crash occurred at around 10:45 p.m. on Lone Tree Way close to the Fairview Avenue intersection. According to BPD, a 2015 Nissan was driving on Lone Tree when it veered to the left, crossing over a double-yellow line and entering opposing traffic lanes. After it entered oncoming traffic, the Nissan collided head-on with a 2012 Hyundai.
Response
Directly after BPD received a call reporting this accident, officials dispatched responders to the scene of the crash. Responding personnel discovered that both vehicle drivers had suffered injuries.
Reports stated that the Hyundai was badly damaged during the crash, trapping the driver inside of the wreckage. Firefighters extracted the individual from the car before placing them on a medical helicopter. The individual was transported to the John Muir Walnut Creek Medical Center for treatment of major trauma.
The Nissan driver was reportedly transported to a local hospital via ground ambulance. Details about her injuries were not available.
Investigation
BPD is still actively investigating this accident. So far, no arrests have been made in relation to the incident. According to reports, Lone Tree Way was closed to traffic at the accident scene for several hours while police conducted a preliminary investigation.
Accident Injuries
People who survive car accidents are frequently left with injuries that have a huge impact on their lives. In many cases, it can take months or even years for injured parties to regain their health. In others, the survivor may be left with injury symptoms that affect them for the rest of their lives. All serious accident injuries are likely to be painful and can cause mental and emotional stress.
Furthermore, suffering an injury can be very expensive. Collision survivors frequently need extensive medical care. This can include multiple surgical procedures as well as long-term physical therapy, medication use, and more. Altogether, the cost of getting proper treatment can cause people to worry about how they will be able to afford to recover. Additionally, being injured can also leave you unable to work, which is liable to cause a sudden and drastic loss in income for you and your family.
Getting Help
Often, car accident survivors are unsure of what they can do to afford the care they need. However, it’s possible to get help by working with a personal injury attorney and seeking compensation from negligent parties. By holding negligent parties responsible for their actions, crash survivors are often able to obtain payments for the full amount of damages they’ve suffered, including compensation for medical bills as well as lost income and more.
