Fair Oaks Boulevard Location of Major Injury Motorcycle Accident

A major injury motorcycle accident occurred in Fair Oaks on December 7 after the rider was struck by a sedan. The collision occurred around 6:41 p.m. at the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and North Avenue, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Medics with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene to examine the rider for injuries.

Motorcyclist Taken to a Hospital With Reported Head Injury

Multiple vehicles stopped at the accident scene, including one behind the rider with their hazard lights turned on. The motorcyclist reportedly suffered a head injury and was transported to a hospital for treatment and further evaluation. A tow truck was called to the scene to remove the motorcycle. All the lanes were reopened shortly after 7:00 p.m. The accident is being investigated to determine how it happened and for fault to be assigned.

Motorcycle Accident Injuries

Injuries in a motorcycle accident are often serious, resulting in hospitalization, high medical expenses, time lost from work, and the resulting pain and suffering. Motorcycle riders who are injured by a negligent motorist, badly maintained roadway, or because a part of their bike was defective can file for compensation for those injuries. Over the years, we’ve been successful many times in obtaining the compensation our clients deserve.

Causes of a Major Injury Motorcycle Accident

Motorists are a frequent cause of injuries to a motorcyclist but other reasons can point toward liability. Some of the ways in which these accidents occur include:

  • Making a turn in front of a motorcyclist: This is the main cause of a major injury motorcycle accident. The motorist making the turn either says they didn’t see the rider, tries to beat them across the roadway or misjudges the motorcycle’s speed and distance. Either way, it can result in the rider suffering traumatic injuries.
  • Rear-end collision: When the driver of a passenger vehicle strikes a motorcycle in the rear, it can end up causing the rider to be ejected. Even though a motorcyclist is wearing a protective helmet, this can still cause a serious head injury to the rider as well as broken bones and other trauma.
  • Lane-splitting: Although lane-splitting is acceptable in California, it does come with hazards. If a rider is lane-splitting and another motorist decides to change lanes without checking for lane-splitters, it can cause a major motorcycle accident.
  • Distracted driving: Distracted driving is a major cause of all varieties of traffic collisions. A driver who is texting, talking on a cell phone, or other distractions isn’t paying attention to traffic and can easily cause a motorcycle accident.
  • Poor roadway maintenance: A road that is improperly maintained can cause a motorcycle accident. Potholes, fissures, or upheavals in the pavement, oil, gravel, and other causes may point toward the government entity in charge, being liable for injuries.
  • Defective motorcycle parts: Problems with brakes, steering, tires, and other parts can cause a motorcycle accident. In cases such as these, the manufacturer and others may be held liable through a product liability claim. Negligence doesn’t have to be shown in these claims, only that the defective part was unchanged and used in the way it was intended.
