Importance of Acting Quickly Following a Vehicle vs. Motorcycle Crash
If you have been injured in a crash as a motorcyclist, it is crucial to act fast by gathering evidence and bringing an insurance claim. That is because evidence may be lost or destroyed as time goes on, and there is a strict deadline on personal injury cases in California, known as the statute of limitations. In California, injured individuals only have two years to file a lawsuit in court. This is by the California Code of Civil Procedure Section 335.1. Failure to meet the deadline may result in the dismissal of the case.
Connecting with an experienced Fresno personal injury lawyer immediately after a motorcycle accident can help ensure that your case is filed on time. This will help prevent the costly mistake of the court dismissing your case on the grounds of failing to protect the statute. Bear in mind that there may be some exceptions to the two-year deadline, such as a public agency named as a defendant. This may shorten the time limit to six months. Our accident attorneys can help handle all aspects of your case from start to finish so you can focus on healing and being with your loved ones.
