It was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) that the sedan was pushed up against the center divider trapped inside their vehicle.
Driver Hospitalized in Major Injury Vehicle Crash
Debris was scattered throughout the lanes, and the pickup was found on the right-hand side of the road. The trapped driver was extricated from their vehicle and determined to have suffered major injuries. The patient was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. An investigation of the cause of the collision is underway by CHP traffic accident detectives.
Injuries in Highway Collisions
The violence of accidents on a highway often causes severe injuries because of the higher speeds than those allowed on surface streets. Trauma such as brain and head injuries, broken bones and internal damage are common. Unfortunately, these types of trauma can result in longer-term hospitalization and mounting medical bills, as well as lost wages.
An injury lawyer can help by investigating the major injury vehicle accident to determine fault. They can also gather the evidence that supports your claim against the at-fault driver and negotiate your settlement with their insurance company. In rare cases where the insurance company balks at paying you what you deserve, the lawyer can use the gathered evidence to present your case in civil court.
Personal Injury Claims Can Be Used to Recover Compensation
Following a two-vehicle accident caused by a negligent driver, injured parties have the right to file personal injury lawsuits to recover compensation for the following:
- Recovering medical expenses: A major injury vehicle crash could result in medical costs being recovered. A medical air ambulance or ambulance transport, hospitalization, surgery, physicians’ fees, and rehabilitation therapy are all included in this cost. Expenses for future treatment can be factored into the settlement if the injury is expected to last longer.
- Compensation for your pain and suffering: Because the accident caused pain and suffering, compensation may be recovered. The compensation may also include those for psychological and emotional damages. It is not uncommon for people to experience nightmares, relive the accident, suffer anxiety, and other powerful aftereffects after an accident.
- Recovery of lost wages: You can recover lost wages due to a major injury vehicle crash that prevents the injured party from working. A difference in compensation can be recovered if the injured party cannot do their previous job or if they have to take one that pays less because of the injury. Their wages can be recovered until retirement age if they are permanently disabled.
