Verner Avenue Intersection Crash Between Sedan and Motorcycle
A traffic injury occurred in an accident involving a motorcycle and sedan on August 23 in North Sacramento. It occurred in the Foothill Farms area around 8:52 a.m. at the intersection of Verner Avenue and Greenback Lane. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the rider had been in the slow lane when it collided with a Kia sedan, which was a Hertz rental vehicle.
Medical Issue May Have Caused the Traffic Injury
First responders with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived to assess the injuries in the collision. It was determined that the crash may have happened due to a medical issue. The CHP conducted an investigation as the scene of the traffic injury was cleared.
Motorcycle Accident Injuries
Motorcycle riders are much more vulnerable to injuries than those in passenger vehicles. When a negligent driver causes injuries to a motorcyclist, the injured party may claim fair compensation with the help of an experienced Sacramento personal injury lawyer. Most motorcycle accidents are caused by negligent drivers, especially in intersections. Some errors that drivers make include:
- Driving through a red light or stop sign can lead to a traffic injury. Drivers and motorcyclists who have the right of way do not expect someone to come speeding through and can’t always react in time to avoid a collision.
- Speeding leads to a high number of accidents. A driver who is speeding and sees a motorcyclist up ahead may not be able to stop in time to prevent a traffic injury.
- Making a careless turn at an intersection can cause a traffic injury accident. Motorists who turn right without a clear view of traffic or do so illegally are at fault when a traffic accident occurs. This not only includes motorcyclists but pedestrians and bicycle riders.
- Turning left when there is oncoming traffic that is too close is a common cause of a traffic injury accident. These types of accidents happen because the driver wants to make a turn before the light changes. In some cases, the driver misjudges the speed and distance of approaching traffic, which leads to a collision.
Accident Investigations
Collecting evidence in an accident investigation is needed to support a client’s compensation claim. Our investigators have a lot of experience in doing just that. They head out to the accident location as soon as possible before the evidence is covered over or disappears once traffic starts back up. Evidence collected by the investigators includes:
- The investigators look for video footage of the traffic injury accident if it can be found on nearby surveillance cameras.
- They interview the witnesses to understand what they saw and examine the police report for mistakes.
- Accident reconstruction is an important part of an injury investigation. It can show the positioning of the vehicles and how the collision occurred.
- The roadway and area themselves are checked for signs of government neglect that could have caused the crash. In some cases, overhanging limbs, potholes, poor lighting, and other negligence can cause an accident.
