Modesto Women Killed in Bicycle Accident
A woman riding her bicycle was fatally struck by a vehicle on June 30, 2016, at approximately 8:50 pm. The driver of the vehicle who struck her fled the scene of the accident.
What Happened?
The collision took place in east Modesto on El Vista which is north of Encina Avenue. The cyclist was 40-year-old Rachelle White from Modesto. White was transported to a nearby hospital. Sadly, she passed away due to the serious nature of her injuries.
Modesto Police Department Public Announcement
According to Modesto Police Department spokeswoman, Heather Graves, 34-year-old Evgeniy Viktorochich was arrested by authorities last week at a traffic stop in Fresno. Information and leads were sent to Modesto police that Viktorochich had involvement in a fatal bicyclist hit and run. For this reason, Viktorochich’s name was located in a database that allows authorities to observe the identities of people wanted by police.
Hit And Run Suspect Held Without Bail
Evgeniy Viktorochich will be facing charges for vehicular manslaughter, departing from the collision scene, unlawful driving of a vehicle, methamphetamine possession, and reckless avoidance of authority. Viktorochich was sent to the Stanislaus County jail and will be held without bail for his hit-and-run crime.
