Motor Vehicle and Motorcyclist Collide at Jackson Road Intersection

A motorcycle accident occurred in Rancho Murieta on December 17 that caused injuries to the rider. The collision was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as happening around 3:36 p.m. at the intersection of Jackson Road and Murieta South Parkway. The motorcyclist was discovered down on the right-hand side when authorities arrived at the scene, and medics with Sac Metro Fire were called to assess the rider’s injuries.

Authorities Investigating Cause of Motor Vehicle/Motorcycle Accident

According to the CHP report, the vehicle involved in the accident was making a turn when their vehicle was struck by the motorcycle. Medics transported the injured motorcyclist to Kaiser South Sacramento Medical Center; however, no details were provided about the extent of the rider’s injuries. Tow trucks were summoned to remove both vehicles involved in the crash. The accident is being investigated by the CHP.

Motor Vehicles and a Motorcycle Accident Injury

Motorcyclists often suffer serious injuries when they are involved in an accident with a passenger vehicle. These types of accidents often have common causes such as:

  • A driver making a turn in front of a motorcycle is the most common type of collision. Usually, these accidents happen when the motorist is making a left turn and goes in front of the motorcycle. However, these accidents can also happen when a driver is turning right. Generally, the driver says they didn’t see the motorcycle coming. However, it is a motorist’s responsibility to make sure the way is clear before making a turn.
  • Intersections are common locations for a motorcycle/passenger vehicle accident. Often, the driver has run a red light, is speeding, or is distracted.
  • Changing lanes without checking for vehicles and not using turn signals is another common cause of a motorcycle accident injury. The driver has the responsibility to ensure the next lane is clear before moving over, especially if the motorcyclist is lane-splitting. Otherwise, it could lead to a serious injury accident.
  • Stopping short or rear-ending a motorcycle can lead to a serious accident injury. Because motorcycles offer little protection to the rider and are more unstable than a passenger vehicle, stopping so the bike hits the car in the rear or running into the back of one can cause the rider to be ejected. An ejection can result in a serious motorcycle accident injury due to their lack of protection, especially of traumatic brain injuries, even if the rider is wearing a helmet.

Over the years, my law firm has successfully obtained compensation for many motorcycle riders following an injury accident. We have handled so many, I wrote a booklet called the California Motorcycle Accident Handbook, which is free to read online at Amazon. It answers common questions riders have after they have suffered an injury in an accident caused by someone else’s negligence.

We offer a free, no-obligation consultation, whether virtually or in person, to review your case, tell you about options to recover compensation, and answer your questions. Your claim for compensation can recover the cost of all of your medical expenses, lost wages, and you can obtain reimbursement for your pain and suffering.
