U.S. 50 Accident Involved Motorcycle Rider and Multiple Vehicles
A multiple-vehicle accident in Sacramento on May 25 sent three people to the hospital. The crash happened around 5:40 p.m. along eastbound U.S. 50 at the northbound I-5 connector. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) police report stated that it involved a motorcycle and three or four additional vehicles.
Three People Injured in Multiple-Vehicle Accident
All the lanes along the eastbound side of the highway were blocked near the exit ramp by the collision. Paramedics with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived to assess the injured, and three patients were transported to the hospital. No information was given on the extent of those injuries.
Additional Information About the Multiple-Vehicle Accident
All the lanes were reopened by around 6:30 p.m. The multiple-vehicle accident is under investigation by authorities to assign fault and discover how the collision occurred. Whether alcohol or drug consumption was a factor in the crash was not addressed.
Complications of a Multiple-Vehicle Accident
When an accident involves multiple vehicles, finding out who was at fault can be more complicated. This is because more than one driver may be found to be at fault. For example, one driver may have been tailgating while another was speeding, and a third was texting at the time of the accident and didn’t realize a collision was impending until it was too late. In addition, those other drivers will do their best to avoid liability.
Getting Advice From a Personal Injury Lawyer
Personal injury attorneys are able to discover who was at fault in an accident. This enables the injured party to obtain compensation, which will cover the cost of the following:
The injured party can recover all of their medical expenses associated with the multiple-vehicle accident. These include everything from the ambulance fee to hospitalization, physicians’ bills, surgeries, medical testing, and physical rehabilitation.
- If the injured party needs medical appliances such as a walker or a wheelchair, that can be factored into the settlement. Alterations to the home or apartment can also be included if needed as well as the cost of a home health attendant.
- Wages that were lost because of the injured party’s inability to work are recoverable. This includes any bonuses and the value of other perks of the job.
- If the injured party cannot return to the same job because of a disability caused by their injury and is demoted to another position, the difference in salary can be claimed. If the injury causes a permanent disability, preventing the claimant from working in the future, compensation to the age of retirement from the job is factored in.
- Loss of consortium, affection, and other damage to the spousal relationship can be an element of the claim.
- Compensation for the physical discomfort and pain caused by the multiple-vehicle accident can lead to a lawsuit.
