Near Fatal Pokemon Go Accident
We are beginning to hear about many frightening Pokemon Go accidents in the news. The one detailed below is especially scary. A motorist crashed into a tree while playing the new app, Pokemon Go.
What Happened?
The accident occurred at approximately 7:45 pm. Auburn Police arrived on scene to locate the vehicle that had driven off the roadway and crashed into a tree. The driver of the vehicle stated that they were distracted by their Pokemon Go game while driving. Authorities stated that the driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries in the collision but have not released the identity of the driver.
Pokemon Go App Details
Pokemon Go is a new mobile app that was released last week and is causing a global phenomenon. The game integrates smart phone navigation to allow its user to engage in exercise through playing the game by fighting and catching Pokemon. The new game has created some safety hazards for players of the game that are not aware of their surroundings and have caused recent mishaps as a result.
Safety Precautions for Pokemon Go Users
Pokemon Go users should promptly begin to take safety precautions while playing the game:
- Do not play the game while driving in a vehicle or bicycle
- Do not trespass on private properties to catch a Pokemon
- Do not walk and stare into your phone while playing the game as it can cause hazards in your surroundings
- Take caution when using your location settings for unknown individuals can access your location history
- Be sure to play the game with a group
- Do not play the game in dark locations
