Tyler Foote Road Collision Involves Two Vehicles
A major injury occurred in Nevada City as a result of a two-vehicle accident on March 21. The collision happened around 5:48 p.m. along Tyler Foote Road when a Toyota 4Runner and Chevy 1500 pickup collided. The driver of the 4Runner reported the accident to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), saying that they were cut off, which caused them to crash with the other vehicle.
One Person Hospitalized After Major Injury Accident
The roadway was partially blocked by the accident, and the 4Runner sustained moderate front-end damage. Emergency fire department responders determined that one person had suffered a major injury in the collision, and that patient was transported to a hospital for treatment. The CHP is investigating to determine fault in the accident and how it happened.
Two-Vehicle Traffic Collision Causes
There are a variety of reasons for two-vehicle accidents. Typically, they are caused by driver error, but they can also be caused by a problem with the vehicle or negligence in road maintenance. A major injury accident of this type can be the result of a variety of factors, including:
- Drunk driving is a leading cause of an accident involving two vehicles. Even though massive efforts have been made to curb drunk driving, the danger continues to exist. Many collisions are caused by drunk drivers who are incapable of maintaining a steady speed and weaving in and out of traffic.
- Accidents are also caused by distracted driving. It is distracting to text, change the radio station, converse with passengers while driving and other activities that can cause us to hesitate to react in an emergency. Many people don’t realize that in the five seconds it takes to send a text message, their vehicle has traveled hundreds of feet, which is long enough to result in a major injury accident.
- With people working swing shifts and having multiple jobs, fatigued driving is becoming more common. There has been a comparison made between a fatigued driver and someone who is intoxicated, since their responses are similar.
- Speeding is involved in many accidents of all types. Speeding drivers have less control over their vehicles and require a longer stopping distance, which is why an accident is more likely when they are going above the speed limit.
Investigating a Major Injury Accident
A personal injury lawyer’s responsibility is to help the client obtain fair compensation from the at-fault party. During investigation and evidence gathering, they assist clients in getting fair compensation to support the client’s injury claim. Some of the ways in which evidence to support a client’s claim is gathered include:
- The report filed by the police is checked for mistakes.
- Interviews are conducted with witnesses to the collision.
- Accident reconstruction is carried out by investigators. Detailed information about how the vehicles are positioned at the time of the collision, where they collide and where they end up can indicate who was at fault.
- If there are cameras at a business or along a road, the investigators examine them to see if a video of the collision exists. A subpoena can be issued to obtain this evidence to support the client’s compensation claim.
By putting together the gathered evidence, our injury lawyers help our clients receive the compensation they are entitled to. This is something we have successfully done for clients over the years.
