Intersection Crash at Melrose Drive Results in Minor Injuries
A two-vehicle intersection crash in North Highlands on February 9 resulted in minor injuries. The crash happened at the Melrose Drive intersection with Bolivar Avenue around 7:46 a.m. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers who responded to the incident said the collision involved a Chevy pickup and a Honda Accord.
Injuries in Intersection Crash Determined to Be Minor
Both of the vehicles had already pulled over on the right-hand side of Bolivar Avenue when officers arrived. At least one individual had a complaint of pain following the intersection accident, however, the injuries were determined to be minor. An investigation by the CHP will determine fault in the crash.
Intersections Are Dangerous
Almost 50 percent of all crashes occur at intersections, and most are caused by negligent drivers. At these crossroads, bicyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists are present, complicating traffic and increasing the risk of accidents. Collisions are often caused by:

A government entity may be responsible for maintaining the intersection and be held liable for injuries. Because the claim has to be filed within six months, getting help from a lawyer could be advisable.
- A sticking accelerator, failed brakes or a locked steering wheel can cause a collision. It is possible to hold the manufacturer responsible through an auto product liability claim. Following a collision, a vehicle should be retained for inspection.
