Northbound I-5 Blocked by Big Rig Rollover
A big rig rollover occurred on May 15th in Orland south of Corning, blocking both lanes of traffic. The crash occurred around 2:45 p.m. on northbound I-5 just north of the County Road 16 off-ramp. For unknown reasons, the semi, with the trailer loaded with dog food, completely rolled over on its side.
Cause of Big Rig Rollover Being Investigated
Minor injuries were reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in the accident, and no other vehicles were involved. CHP traffic collision investigators are determining why the crash happened.
Causes and Dangers of a Big Rig Rollover
Rollovers involving semis can be caused by a variety of factors, including driver error, mechanical malfunctions, road conditions, and weather. The most common causes are the following:
- Excessive speed or driving too fast for the road conditions
- Improper loading/overloading
- Distracted driving
- Impaired driving
- Tire blowouts
- Brake failure
- Navigating sharp turns or curves at high speeds
When a big rig rolls over, it has the potential to cause serious damage and injuries to other vehicles on the road as well as its cargo, which is why federal regulations are in place to help reduce the risk of such accidents. Unfortunately, these rules don’t always prevent them from occurring.
Compensation Recovery After an Accident Caused by a Semi Rollover
If you have been involved in an accident involving a rollover, it is important to understand your rights and legal options when seeking compensation. Depending on the circumstances of the accident, you may be able to pursue damages from multiple parties. Typically, this includes medical expenses, lost wages and other related costs. In some cases, punitive damages may also be available if the driver or company was found to be especially negligent or reckless in their behavior.
How an Injury Lawyer Can Help You Recover Compensation
A big rig rollover accident lawyer can help you claim damages from the trucking company, driver and any other responsible parties. This may include filing a lawsuit, negotiating with insurance companies and gathering evidence to support your claim. An attorney will also be able to advise you on any potential time limitations that could affect your ability to file a claim or receive compensation.
By retaining an attorney, you can also be sure that your rights are protected throughout the process and that you receive fair and just compensation for your injuries and losses. An attorney will work hard to ensure that all of your needs are met and that any settlement or jury award is reasonable and equitable. With the support of an experienced legal professional, you can rest assured knowing that all parties responsible for your accident will be held accountable.
