State Route 70 Truck Crash Involves Six Other Vehicles

A truck crash near Yuba City occurred on March 1 involving six other vehicles. The collision occurred along northbound State Route 70 at the Feather River Boulevard on-ramp around 8:16 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) accident report. The semi involved was an empty 25-foot FedEx truck.

Minor Trauma Reported in Multiple-Vehicle Collision

The collision included a Jeep Rubicon and a Honda CR-V. First responders with the fire department arrived and determined that only minor injuries occurred due to the crash. An investigation is underway by the CHP to find out how the collision occurred.

Reasons for Big Truck Accidents Near Highway Ramps

Big trucks are a common source of accidents near highway ramps. This is due to a number of factors, including the following:

  • Size and weight: The sheer size and weight of big trucks make them difficult to maneuver on highways with tight curves or ramps. These trucks require more time and distance to slow down, turn or stop than passenger cars. This can lead to dangerous situations when the truck has to navigate highway ramps.
  • Speed: Speed limits are also a common cause of a big truck crash near highway ramps. California trucks have lower speed limits compared to other vehicles and may not be able to navigate sharp curves or ramps at higher speeds. This can lead to the truck becoming unbalanced and overturning, leading to an accident.
  • Blind spots: Visibility issues are also a factor since big trucks have much larger blind spots than passenger cars. This makes it difficult for drivers of large trucks to accurately judge the speed of other traffic on the highway and can result in collisions at highway ramps.
  • Fatigue and distractions: Driver fatigue and distraction are also major causes of a big truck crash near a highway ramp. Long drives can lead to drowsiness, which can cause drivers to make mistakes or take risks they wouldn’t normally take while operating a large vehicle. Additionally, distractions such as talking on the phone, eating, or changing the radio station can also lead to accidents.

Recovering Compensation After an Injury Caused by a Big Truck

When a person is injured in a truck crash, they may be entitled to significant compensation for their injuries, lost wages, medical bills and other losses. However, an individual’s ability to recover the necessary damages can be complicated by many factors, such as insurance companies looking to minimize their payout or liability issues with the company responsible for the accident. In these cases, a lawyer experienced in truck accident litigation can provide crucial legal assistance.

Legal Assistance Following a Truck Crash

A lawyer experienced in truck accidents can help their clients navigate the complex and often confusing insurance policies that are applicable to trucking companies, ensuring that they recover the maximum amount of compensation possible. An attorney will also understand state and federal laws governing trucks, including regulations regarding vehicle maintenance and driver training. This knowledge can be used to help prove the defendant’s negligence in causing an accident. A lawyer will also know how best to present their case in court or during settlement negotiations in order to achieve a successful outcome for the injured party.
