House Fire Kills One in Sacramento County
A man was killed, and three others were rescued from a burning house early Sunday morning on Roseburg Court and Faberge Way. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened at about 1:40 am on December 18, 2022.
According to the Sacramento Metro Fire, when crews arrived on the scene, they saw heavy flames coming from the front of the house with four people trapped inside.
Fire officials said the one-story, three-bedroom house had a garage that was converted into a fourth bedroom. Bars on the windows made it difficult for fire crews to get inside the house, but once the bars were removed, firefighters could get through to put out the fire.
Two people escaped from the burning home while first responders rescued the third person. Sadly, officials said the fourth person died in the fire.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies later arrested a 61-year-old man in connection with the deadly house fire. Officials confirmed the man was one of the people who escaped the fire and the roommate of the person killed in the blaze.

How a Wrongful Death Lawyer Can Help

If you have lost a family member in a tragic accident, a Sacramento wrongful death attorney can guide you through the legal process. A lawyer can help you work through the issues you may face after your loved one’s untimely death. Besides handling the legal portion of your claim, your attorney can refer you to grief counselors and local support groups that may help bring some comfort.
Time Limit to File a Wrongful Death Claim
You have two years from the date of the death to file a wrongful death claim in California. If you don’t file a lawsuit within the period, you could lose your right to pursue monetary compensation.
The grieving process may be overwhelming, and talking to a lawyer may be the last thing on your mind. However, insurance claims adjusters are trained to investigate and dispute liability for fatal accidents caused by negligence. Retaining legal counsel to protect your family in your time of need is essential.
