Three-Vehicle Collision in Sacramento on Martin Luther King Boulevard

A three-vehicle collision in Sacramento occurred on March 8, along Martin Luther King Boulevard, which sent at least one person to a hospital. The accident occurred at the intersection with 47th Avenue at about 9:24 in the evening. According to the police report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), one of the vehicles sustained front-end damage, while another had the passenger-side door crushed in. Northbound lanes of MLK Boulevard were blocked as the CHP conducted an investigation into the cause of the crash, and tow truck operators cleared the accident site. The injured person was transported to a hospital by paramedics with the Sacramento Fire Department following the three-vehicle collision.

Proving Liability in a Crash

For an injured person to obtain fair compensation after a crash, liability by another person or entity must be proven. While in some cases, it is obvious who caused an accident, in others, it takes a professional to gather the evidence to prove the case. For example, in a three-car collision, one of the drivers may have been drinking, driving distracted, speeding, or ran a red light. Any of these negligent actions can cause a collision. An experienced injury lawyer has the ability to prove the four factors that are necessary to place a compensation claim, which are:

  • The at-fault driver had an obligation to act in the way a normal person would.
  • The driver failed in that responsibility and caused an accident.
  • Someone was injured as a result of the at-fault driver.
  • The injured person suffered a financial loss, such as medical expenses and lost wages.

The Cost of an Accident Injury

Accident injuries are much more than just the pain of trauma and stress. Medical bills can pile up, and the injured person may have to spend extensive time in the hospital, go through rehabilitation, and struggle at home without having handicapped accessibility. Time may be lost at work, which affects the family finances, causing them to go into debt. Besides the lost finances, the injured person may suffer from emotional and psychological effects from a three-vehicle collision. This can include depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, or even reliving the accident. In cases that are extreme, the person may become fearful of leaving the house or riding in or driving a vehicle. These are all good reasons to seek compensation.

How My Law Office Can Help in a Three-Vehicle Collision

The Law Offices of Edward A. Smith have the knowledge and drive to help you obtain the compensation you deserve after suffering an injury in an accident. Our investigators go to the site of the accident to gather evidence, check the police report for mistakes, and talk to any witnesses. Performing accident reconstruction is helpful because it demonstrates the position of the vehicles before the accident and how the three-vehicle collision occurred. This evidence is commonly used by insurance companies to determine liability. In addition, the investigators look for cameras on traffic signals and nearby businesses that might have caught the collision on tape. When all of the evidence is gathered, our attorneys take over to build a strong case in favor of our client. It can either be used in presenting a case in civil court or dealing with the insurance company on your behalf.
