One Person Seriously Hurt in Napa Motorcycle Collision on Second Avenue
On Friday, August 10, 2020, one person suffered serious injuries during a Napa motorcycle collision. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the motorcycle crash happened in the afternoon and involved two vehicles. The motorcyclist was reportedly the only individual injured during the incident. Additionally, CHP is currently looking into what could have caused the crash.
Crash Details
The collision occurred on Second Avenue at the intersection of North Avenue just south of the Napa Valley Country Club. Police indicated that a 31-year-old man from Moorpark was driving through the intersection on a motorcycle when he collided with a pickup truck being driven by a 47-year-old Napa woman.
After they were contacted about the crash, CHP dispatch sent a team of responders to the location. When officials reached the site, they discovered that the motorcyclist had sustained major injuries and had him driven by ambulance to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center.
Investigation
As police look into possible causes of the accident, officers have stated that a stop sign violation may have been involved. However, a full report regarding suspected crash factors has not been released. In many cases, collisions like this one are caused by a set of factors that can include things outside of the control of motorcyclists and/or drivers. Non-motorist accident causes often include things like defective motorcycle products, issues with roads like broken pavement or inadequate signage, and more.
Motorcyclist Injuries
Motorcyclists typically wear plenty of protective gear. However, they are not protected by seat-belts, airbags, or other common vehicle safety features and are still very vulnerable and often suffer major injuries during accidents. Common motorcyclist injuries include:
- Spinal cord trauma
- Internal injuries
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Road rash
- Bone fractures
- Amputation injuries
All of these can be very painful and are likely to have a huge impact on your life. People injured in motorcycle accidents often face a long and difficult recovery process and may need extensive medical care. For many, recovery requires surgeries, extended hospital stays, physical therapy, and more. Taken altogether, the necessary care can add up to a large amount of medical debt, leaving many motorcycle accident survivors unsure of how they can afford to recover their health.
Calling an Attorney
Fortunately, it’s often possible for injured motorcyclists to obtain payments to cover their medical bills through filing a personal injury claim. Furthermore, survivors are also frequently able to obtain compensation for other damages like lost income, earning potential, damaged property, personal suffering, and more.
The best way to figure out what damages may be available to you following a serious accident is to speak personally with a Napa motorcycle accident attorney as soon as you possibly can. Because at-fault parties typically try to avoid financial responsibility, it’s important to have a lawyer who will start working on putting together a strong case right away.
