Financial Compensation and Justice in Wrongful Death Pedestrian Accident Cases
The sudden loss of a family member may be painful and devastating. In addition to the grief and pain that comes with coping with such a loss, survivors may also find themselves dealing with financial hardship from funeral and burial service expenses, a pile of medical expenses for end-of-life treatment, the loss of a household provider, and more. Learning that the loss of a loved one was due to someone else’s recklessness or negligence may make the ordeal even more stressful to overcome.
In such situations, families may find comfort in knowing that the other side may be held accountable for their actions under California law. This may be accomplished through a claim for wrongful death. In the context of a car versus pedestrian collision, the motorist that caused the incident may be held liable for the resulting damages. These claims are generally filed against the at-fault driver and their insurance carrier. If there are concerns regarding lack of liability coverage or insufficient limits, survivors may have grounds for a claim through uninsured and underinsured motorist protection.
