Fairfield Crash Leaves Pedestrian Fatally Injured
On Tuesday, January 7, 2020, a car accident in Fairfield tragically left a pedestrian fatally injured. The Solano County Sheriff’s Office has identified the decedent as 49-year-old Fairfield resident Walter Ashurst. According to Fairfield Police Department (FPD), the accident happened in the morning on the north side of the city and involved only one car. No other individuals suffered injuries during the crash, and the FPD is investigating the incident.
Crash Information
FPD reported that the accident took place at 6:40 a.m. close to the intersection of Air Base Parkway and North Texas Street. A 29-year-old man was driving on North Texas Street when his vehicle struck Ashurst as he was walking. Police say that video footage of the intersection shows that multiple vehicles were in the area when the collision occurred.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the accident scene immediately after police were notified about the collision. When they reached the site, responders found that Ashurst had sustained critical injuries and had him placed in an ambulance and rushed to a local hospital. Sadly, Ashurst could not recover and passed away later in the day during hospitalization.
Investigation
FPD says that they are attempting to find out what factors were involved in the collision and have stated that they don’t suspect that driving under the influence played a role. Officers have asked that any accident witnesses get in touch with investigators in order to help police understand the accident. Callers should contact FPD officer Seth Jamel by calling (707) 428-7300.
Wrongful Death and Recovery
When people first learn that their loved one has passed away, they often experience a state of shock. For many, it can take time to even accept what has happened. It can take even more time to feel up to the task of dealing with your daily life after suffering such a tragedy. It’s important to treat yourself kindly and rely on the support of your family and community during these difficult times. However, many people are unable to focus on their emotional healing because they are presented with serious financial concerns.
Losing a loved one can leave families in a difficult situation, especially if the decedent was a main income earner in the household. In other cases, families lose access to services that the decedent used to perform, such as childcare, home repair, or cooking. Together with medical bills and funeral costs related to the accident, these issues can leave families unsure of what they will be able to do.
Because families face such serious issues, it’s important to call a Fairfield wrongful death lawyer as soon as you can. By working with a lawyer, many families are able to claim the full amount of compensation they need in order to cover lost income, medical bills, and other financial damages as well as losses related to personal suffering.
