Pedestrian Identified After Deadly Cameron Park Car Accident
On Monday, November 16, 2020, El Dorado County authorities reported the identity of a man who recently passed away after being struck by a vehicle during a Cameron Park car accident. The man was identified as 66-year-old Placerville resident Ernie Taylor. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), Taylor was the only individual who sustained injuries during the crash, and the collision remains under official investigation.
Crash Information
The collision took place at around 1:15 p.m. in the parking lot of a Rite Aid Pharmacy located on Green Valley Road within Cameron Park. Taylor had been walking through the lot while a 90-year-old woman from Shingle Springs was backing out of a parking spot located in front of the pharmacy in her 2016 Lexus. As it reversed, the vehicle traveled a short distance south before striking Taylor, knocking him to the ground.
Witnesses contacted police, who immediately sent responders out to the scene. Upon reaching the area, medical officials discovered that Taylor was critically injured and had him rushed to the Roseville Medical Center for immediate emergency medical attention. Tragically, Taylor succumbed to his injuries later in the day while in custody of the hospital.
Investigation
As CHP continues to conduct a full investigation into this crash, officers haven’t said what, if any, causes they suspect to have played a role. Additionally, investigators noted that the weather was clear and that the asphalt was dry when the collision occurred.
