Injury Reported in Pileup Accident on Olinda Road

A pileup accident at a construction site involving three vehicles occurred near Anderson on November 1, injuring at least one person. The collision occurred shortly before 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Olinda Road and Hammer Lane in Happy Valley, west of Anderson. The incident report issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the accident involved a Toyota Camry, a Subaru, and a Kia Optima.

Vehicles Block Intersection in Construction Site Pileup Accident

The driver who reported the collision said he was stopped at the construction site when his vehicle was rear ended, which happened again with the third car. All the vehicles were blocking the intersection. One of the vehicles had ridden up over the top of another car.

One Person Suffers Injuries in Intersection Construction Site Accident

A male involved in the collision was reported to have suffered injuries. The CHP traffic crash investigators are determining the accident’s cause and assigning fault. It was not reported whether alcohol or drug use factored into the cause of the crash.

Why Do Pileups Happen?

In a pileup accident, two cars crash into each other and vehicles behind them pile on top of each other because they cannot stop in time. Those injured in the collision may suffer bone fractures, traumatic brain injuries, and more from the force of the cars crashing into each other. In some cases, when vehicles are moving at higher speeds, a car that is coming from behind may pass onto the top of another vehicle, increasing the risk of serious trauma.

How Is Negligence Determined in a Pileup?

Usually, the vehicles coming from behind are found to be at fault in these types of accidents. This is because motorists are supposed to follow the vehicles in front of them from a safe distance to give them time to stop if an emergency arises. Speeding, tailgating, distracted driving and other factors can lead to an accident, which can be determined by your lawyer.

Determining Liability in a Work Zone Accident

Although the drivers coming from behind may be found liable in a pileup accident, other factors may also be involved. For example, the government entity in charge of the construction zone may have laid out vehicle passage poorly, misplaced signs or not have adequate workers to flag oncoming traffic. In addition, if the job has been contracted out, a third party may be at least partially liable for accident injuries.

An Injury Lawyer Can Help

An injury lawyer looks over all aspects of your case to determine liability, including that of multiple parties. The attorney then investigates to gather the evidence supporting your compensation claim and can handle negotiations with the at-fault party’s insurance company.
