US 50 Multiple-Vehicle Crash Near Cambridge Road On-Ramp in Cameron Park

What was initially thought to be a car collision involving a single automobile near Placerville on December 22 turned out to be a multiple-vehicle crash with injuries. The accident was reported to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) by the Placerville Service Patrol as occurring around 8:39 a.m. along eastbound US 50 just east of the Cambridge Road on-ramp in Cameron Park. The report stated that a woman had struck the center divider in a blue Honda Accord and had been ejected from the vehicle, and was bleeding.

The fire department was called to the scene to assess injuries. It was also reported that a male was attempting to cross from the center divider to the right-hand side of the road. A dog was out on the highway but reentered the vehicle.

The CHP amended the report to say that multiple vehicles were involved in the crash between Cambridge Road and Bass Lake. The roadway was reported as cleared at 9:17 a.m. However, the authorities provided no additional information about the injuries suffered in the crash. The CHP will be investigating the collision to determine its cause.

Multiple-Vehicle Accident Scene

A multiple-vehicle crash can be emotionally and physically catastrophic for those involved. This type of accident commonly involves severe injuries and fatalities. Part of the reason for this is that vehicles are routinely hit more than once. Safety devices meant to protect vehicle occupants are ineffective after the initial crash. For instance, an airbag deploys when a vehicle is struck the first time. However, after that, the airbag is ineffective since it has already been deployed.

Reasons for a Multiple-Vehicle Crash

Human error is the predominant cause of multiple-vehicle accidents. Some of the most common reasons are:

Determining Who Is at Fault in a Multiple-Vehicle Crash

Due to the level of confusion and the number of vehicles involved, determining who is at fault for the accident can be challenging. In addition, drivers do not admit fault. Because of the general confusion at the accident scene, it is necessary to have an experienced injury attorney investigating the crash.

How Our Law Firm Investigates a Multiple-Vehicle Crash

At our firm, we dispatch an investigative team to the scene of a multiple-vehicle accident to search for evidence that proves liability. Without this, our client’s case cannot be resolved successfully. Our investigators look over the accident scene for markers that help us determine how the accident began and use crash reconstruction techniques to establish liability. Since many such crashes begin with a rear-end collision, this is a critical step.

The investigators also interview others involved in the crash as well as witnesses. If surveillance cameras are available, we obtain digital footage of the crash. Sometimes, witnesses use their cellphones or dash cams to record the accident. We also review police reports for mistakes or inaccuracies. Since police reports are often used in insurance negotiations and civil court, this is essential in proving liability.

Once the data is gathered, it is provided to our legal team to build a robust case for our clients.
