The vehicle in question is believed to be a 2009-2011 Mazda 3, according to a Sacramento Police Department spokesman. It may have damage to the windshield on the right-hand side and right headlight and be missing the passenger side mirror.

The collision was initially reported as occurring around 1:50 a.m. near the Power Inn Road/Butte Avenue intersection, which is located near Colonial Village. This was when police discovered a seriously injured man in the roadway. The officers performed measures to try and save the man’s life. However, upon the arrival of emergency responders with the Sacramento Fire Department, the pedestrian was declared deceased at the accident site. The vehicle that struck the pedestrian had fled the scene.
