Things to Know About Commercial Truck Accidents and Personal Injury Claims

A big rig crash may have the potential to result in life-changing outcomes for those affected. That is because of the overwhelming weight and size of large commercial trucks that may be carrying large loads, hazardous materials, or heavy equipment. The unfortunate reality is that accidents involving tractor-trailers often lead to serious injuries or even death. When a trucker, trucking company, or another entity was responsible for the incident causing harm to others, injured parties or families of decedents may be entitled to financial compensation. This may be accomplished through a claim filed against the insurance company representing the at-fault party. Given that the operation of semi-trucks is subject to state and federal laws, there may be a wide array of parties involved in addition to a challenging set of factors that led to the incident.

Establishing liability on the part of the other side is essential to bringing a successful personal injury claim or wrongful death case. There are many factors that may cause such an incident, many of which are often attributed to driver error and unsafe practices by the trucking company that employed the trucker. Some of the common reasons for big rig crashes involving negligence may include but are not limited to driver fatigue, overloaded trucks, insufficient training, defects in parts or equipment of the big rig, inadequate truck maintenance, drunk driving, speeding, and more. Since there may be many circumstances involved in such cases, an early investigation is essential to prove negligence. Remember that evidence is key to all civil cases, and letters of preservation of evidence must be sent to the other side immediately before it is lost or destroyed over time.
