Upcoming Redding Community Events

With snow falling on the mountains and the holiday season in full force, many Redding residents are spending their free time bundled up on the couch with a warm drink. However, for those who want to get out and about this season, there’s no shortage of fun Redding community events to take part in. If you feel like braving the cold, there are some great local events taking place over the coming weeks. To learn more about some exciting things happening in your community, take a look at these events.

Jingle Bell Jog and Breakfast With Santa

When: 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14

Where: Shasta Family YMCA

The Shasta Family YMCA is hosting a charity run and breakfast event for local fans of running, eating, and holiday cheer. Participants are invited to take part in a 1-mile walk or a 5k race at Lake Redding Pavilion before meeting up at the YMCA to eat breakfast with Santa. Families will be able to take photos with Santa as well as have fun doing family-friendly holiday crafts. The event will also include several exciting raffle prizes.

Shop Local Redding Grand Finale Party

When: 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15

Where: Cedar Crest Brewing

The Redding Chamber of Commerce is hosting a party at Cedar Crest Brewing to wrap up its holiday season game. The event will include drinks, live musical performances, and a hot chocolate bar, and a raffle for those who have participated in Shop Local’s game event over recent weeks. Participants are invited to come and celebrate local businesses with their community at this fun holiday event.

A Celtic Christmas

When: 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 21

Where: The Cascade Theatre

Local nonprofit Cascade Theatre is continuing its holiday tradition by presenting Tomaseen Foley’s A Celtic Christmas with all new music, dances, and stories that celebrate both Irish culture and the spirit of Christmas. A Celtic Christmas brings the joyful tale of A Night Before Christmas to a remote farm located in the west of Ireland, where neighbors gather around the fire to grace a winter night with the tunes of traditional Irish carols, high-flying dances, and merry stories.

Santa Crawl

When: 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21 to 2:00 a.m. Sunday, December 22

Where: Viva Downtown Redding

Those interested in getting especially merry this holiday season are invited to join the local Santa Crawl. A group of people all dressed as Santa himself will be making a tour of Redding’s downtown bars, who happen to be offering discounts and special holiday items just for the event. The price of admission to the crawl includes a Santa hat for those without the proper attire.
