Rollover Single-Vehicle Accident Occurs on Marshall Road
A single-vehicle accident involving a pickup occurred near Georgetown on June 6 and involved a rollover. The collision happened around 4:10 p.m. along Marshall Road between Georgetown and Black Oak Mine roads. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers arrived at the scene to find one of the lanes blocked by an overturned pickup.
Injured Driver Transported to Hospital After Single-Vehicle Accident
The driver was exported to Marshall Medical Center in Placerville for the treatment of injuries and additional evaluation. A tow truck was summoned to remove the pickup from the scene. The CHP traffic collision investigation team is investigating to find out what happened to cause the single-vehicle crash.
Why a Rollover Accident Happens Other Than Driver Error
Although the majority of rollover accidents are caused by some type of negligence on the part of the driver, others may be caused by an outside influence or even another motorist. Rollover accidents can occur for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with the driver’s behavior or decision-making. Some of these non-driver-related causes include:
- Some vehicles are more prone to rollovers – SUVs, light pickups and vans are more likely to experience a single-vehicle rollover due to their top-heavy designs.
- Vehicle weight imbalance – If a vehicle is carrying an unbalanced load (such as weight on one side instead of evenly distributed), it is more prone to tipping during sharp turns. If the company or other third party who loaded the pickup or van caused this imbalance, they might be liable for accident injuries.
- Government negligence – Certain roadway design elements, such as narrow lanes and sharp turns may increase the likelihood of a rollover accident. In addition, unexpected obstacles like potholes and debris in the roadway can cause drivers to lose control and potentially lead to a rollover single-vehicle accident. A negligent government entity may be liable for accident injuries. However, because the statute of limitations in such cases is six months, getting help from an accident lawyer might be advisable. In this way, paperwork will be completed correctly and filed on time. In addition, the lawyer can negotiate with the government entity for you to help you obtain maximum compensation.
- Vehicle defects – If a vehicle’s tires, brakes, steering, accelerator or suspension are defective, it may be more likely to roll over in certain situations. Retaining the vehicle is important in a single-vehicle crash, so an expert can examine it to look for defects. If a defect in the vehicle itself contributed to or caused the collision, the injured person can place an auto product liability claim against the manufacturer with the help of an accident attorney. Negligence doesn’t have to be shown, only that the part was defective.
