Help Following a Wrongful Death
If a loved one dies because of the negligent actions of an individual or other entity, the family is entitled to file a claim for wrongful death. Those who live in the household may join in the claim such as the spouse/putative spouse, children/stepchildren/adopted children and other relatives as long as they were supported by the decedent by at least 50 percent. A seasoned wrongful death lawyer in Sacramento can help them in obtaining fair compensation.
Although it will not bring back their loved one or ease their grief, it can help them avoid financial problems such a loss can bring. Over my many years as an injury lawyer, I’ve helped numerous people get the compensation they deserve and can do the same for you.
Conducting an Investigation Into a Motorcycle Crash Fatality
Resources and experience are needed to successfully handle a case involving a wrongful death resulting in a motorcycle crash fatality. Our investigative team is able to collect needed evidence to support a client’s claim, including:
- Checking the police report to ensure it has no errors in it.
- Speaking to witnesses to obtain their statements and to see if any of them recorded the motorcycle crash fatality
- Traffic surveillance cameras are sought to see if the accident was captured on video.
- Accident reconstruction can illustrate how the motorcycle crash fatality occurred.
- Government neglect that could have caused an accident such as debris in the roadway, inadequate shoulders, and deteriorated pavement may be a factor in the accident.
Our lawyers use information gathered by the investigators to construct a case that favors our client if negligence by another person or entity is discovered.
Following a Family Death
Losing a loved one is a trying time, and a person who is grieving may feel alone and facing emotions such as anger, disbelief and sorrow. There are many ways that friends and family can help. Some suggestions include:
- Be there for them in this trying time.
- Call to express your sympathy and send a card or flowers.
- Be of help in practical ways such as babysitting, washing dishes, grocery shopping, or cutting the grass.
- Go visit the family. Because people who are grieving need to talk about the decedent and the tragedy of their loss, being a good listener helps.
- Get them away from home by going to eat or even taking a walk.
- Offer to go with them to make the arrangements for their loved one. Having a supportive friend along can help.
- Grieving doesn’t stop after the funeral. Continue to be caring and helpful afterward.
