The actions by the semi driver caused the second vehicle to try to swerve out of the way. The driver lost control and struck the center divider. Medics with the Sacramento Fire Department determined the driver suffered injuries in the hit-and-run crash.

No report was issued on the extent of trauma or whether the injured party was taken to a hospital. However, the vehicle was towed from the scene. An investigation by the CHP traffic incident unit will determine fault.
The Search for a Fleeing Driver
Occasionally, police locate fleeing drivers, but not always. The use of a law firm with experience and resources in tracking down hit-and-run drivers is another option. Investigators for our law firm have found fleeing drivers over the past years and held them accountable.
Accident Investigation Involving a Hit-and-Run
An accident site visit is our first step in investigating an accident where the driver fled. The area is photographed, including looking for paint smears or metal or plastic fragments that have fallen. The model and make of the vehicle can be identified this way. A police report is reviewed for accuracy and helpful information.
Sometimes, a Sacramento accident with injuries is captured on film by surveillance cameras at traffic lights and businesses. Reconstruction of accidents may be necessary in some cases. If anyone brought in a vehicle or truck that appeared damaged, checking the local body shops may also be helpful.
Recovering Compensation by Filing a Personal Injury Claim
If the driver is located, the injured party can file a personal injury claim. These types of claims recover the injured person’s medical expenses caused by the accident, their lost wages because they could not work, and compensation for their pain and suffering. In addition to calculating these losses for you, an injury lawyer can negotiate in your stead with the at-fault party’s insurance company to recover maximum compensation.
Compensation May Be Recovered Through Insurance Coverage
It is not always possible to locate a hit-and-run driver in a Sacramento accident with injuries. It is possible to recover some of the financial loss from the uninsured/underinsured party’s auto coverage, however. It is possible to use another family member’s add-on insurance policy if the injured person didn’t have it, but another family member did. No changes will be made to future premium rates.
