Big Rig Rollover Occurs on Donner Pass
A big rig rollover accident west of Truckee caused serious injuries on December 19. The collision occurred around 8:30 a.m. at the Donner Pass rest area on Interstate 80, blocking all the traffic lanes. The tractor had become dislocated from the trailer and overturned onto the driver’s side, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Both Truck Occupants Injured in Big Rig Rollover
The driver managed to exit the semi in the Truckee accident. However, another person inside was trapped and had to be extricated by Cal Fire. One of the men suffered a dislocated shoulder. The other injured party sustained a major back injury and was unable to move.

Both of the patients were transported to a hospital for treatment. CHP traffic crash officers are investigating the accident to determine what happened to cause the trucker to lose control.
Driver Obligation to Passengers
When any motorist is on the road, they are responsible for the safety and well-being of their passengers. What this means is that if a passenger is injured because the driver handling the vehicle was negligent and caused an accident, then they have the right to recover compensation. An accident lawyer can investigate to prove fault, collect the evidence needed to support a personal injury claim and negotiate for the injured party to recover fair compensation.
Liability in An Accident Caused by a Big Rig
You may have a claim against the company that employs a negligent trucker or a third party, such as a mechanic or loader of the trailer, if you are injured in a big rig rollover accident caused by the driver’s negligence. The company owner is responsible for the negligence of their employees under the doctrine of respondeat superior. Despite this, negotiating a settlement with an organization that usually has lawyers on retainer can be challenging without legal assistance. The following are some of the damages you may be able to recover with the help of an injury lawyer who handles big rig accidents:
- Medical costs: In addition to your ambulance ride to the hospital, you can also recover the costs of your hospitalization, physician’s bills, and physical therapy sessions related to your accident. Your lawyer can calculate and include the future costs if you haven’t settled your injury yet.
- Lost wages: If you lost wages as a result of your injury or you lost benefits from your insurance or pension, you may be able to recoup the value of your other benefits from your employer.
- Trauma: Physical and emotional trauma are included in pain and suffering compensation. Post-traumatic stress disorder develops in many people, and it can be treated and the cost recovered
