Head-On Crash Occurs on Bradshaw Road

A three-vehicle head-on crash in Sacramento on June 3 caused critical injuries to two people. The collision happened along Bradshaw Road near Jackson Highway around 2:00 p.m., involving a work truck and two cars. Sacramento Metro Fire officials reported that at least one of the people involved in the crash had to be extricated.

Two People Hospitalized With Critical Injuries

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that those injured in the crash were hospitalized. Another two people who were extricated were assessed for injuries and released. The identities of those who were hospitalized have not been released. At least two vehicles were towed from the accident scene with significant front-end damage. CHP traffic accident investigators are determining the cause of the collision.

Causes of Head-On Collisions

It is extremely dangerous for occupants of both vehicles to be involved in a head-on crash. Because both vehicles’ weight and speed come into play, the final impact force will be determined by these factors. Fifty-eight percent of head-on accidents result in death, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. While head-on crashes are more common in rural areas, they account for 7 percent of all fatal crashes in cities.

The Causes of Head-On Collisions

A variety of factors can cause frontal crashes. Among them are:

  • Impaired driving: When driving while intoxicated, judgment and comprehension are impaired, making it more difficult to drive safely. Drunk drivers often edge into oncoming lanes, resulting in devastating accidents.
  • Distractions: In one-way lanes, distracted drivers frequently travel the wrong way because they are distracted by talking on their phone, texting or changing a radio station. They missed a warning sign because they didn’t see it.
  • Reckless driving: The act of reckless driving is to move into an oncoming lane or pass in no-passing zones despite warnings the maneuver is not permitted.
  • Drowsy driving: The effects of drowsy driving can be severe at times, particularly on busy roads and highways, where falling asleep at the wheel or closing your eyes for a few seconds can have detrimental effects.
  • Government negligence: Many cities have confusing or missing roadway signs. The government agency in charge of maintaining roads and signage may be liable if this problem results in an accident. Because the statute of limitations is only six months for a government claim, using an injury lawyer to handle it may be prudent.

Conducting a Head-On Collision Investigation

Accidents involving frontal collisions are violent. Vehicles in adjacent lanes can also be damaged by the impact. To determine logistics and liability, investigators must go to the accident scene. In every case, evidence is the foundation of the recovery of compensation

As soon as possible, our investigation team is dispatched. To determine liability, they conduct accident reconstruction and search the area for other evidence. Additionally, they review police reports for errors and obtain videos from surveillance cameras. For additional information, our investigators interview witnesses. Using this data, our injury attorneys build a compelling case for our clients.
