Single-Vehicle Crash Occurs on Sutterville Road Off-Ramp

A major injury was reported on May 14 in a Sacramento accident on a freeway off-ramp. The single-vehicle crash occurred around 9:02 a.m. on the Sutterville Road off-ramp off the northbound West Side Freeway. According to a person who called the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to report the crash, the vehicle didn’t slow down before crashing into a stop sign and was traveling at high speed. No information was provided on what hospital the injured driver was transported to for medical care. The CHP is investigating to determine what happened.

Negligence That Can Cause a Single-Vehicle Major Injury Accident

About 95 percent of all traffic accidents occur due to negligence on the part of the driver. For example, speeding, drunk or distracted driving, and fatigue can all lead to a major injury accident.

Factors Contributing to Single-Vehicle Collision Injuries

A single-vehicle crash can occur for many reasons, but most of the time the driver is at fault. In some cases, a single-vehicle accident can involve other factors that enable the injured driver to claim compensation for lost wages, medical expenses, and pain and suffering.

Hit-and-Run or Aggressive Drivers

A hit-and-run or aggressive driver can often cause a solo-vehicle accident. Various reasons can lead to a driver fleeing. Lack of insurance or an expired license are just two examples. Some people might be overwhelmed by the situation and just flee in panic.

Anger issues compromise the ability of aggressive drivers to drive safely. An aggressive driver may tailgate, try to cut the other motorist off or refuse to yield the right of way. As anger increases, the aggressive driver may hit the other vehicle on purpose or try to force it off the road.

If the accident was caused by a fleeing or aggressive driver, an injury lawyer can help your case for compensation by finding evidence to support your claim. Among areas of investigation are checking local surveillance cameras for film of the accident, interviewing witnesses and performing accident reconstruction. When the vehicle has been identified, the driver can be sought to hold them responsible for their negligent actions.

Auto Parts Defects

A major injury accident can be caused by defective parts if your brakes stop working, your steering suddenly stops functioning, your accelerator sticks, etc. The manufacturer, parts maker, and others in the line of production could be responsible for a major injury accident if the defect in its construction caused it. In the event of a major accident with injuries, people should consider retaining their vehicles rather than having them destroyed. That way, the vehicle can be inspected for defects by engineers. If an auto product defect caused a single-vehicle accident, a lawsuit can be filed.

Government Negligence Can Cause a Major Injury Accident

Road maintenance is the responsibility of government entities that are expected to keep streets in good repair, intersections where drivers have good visibility, proper lighting and other safety features. Defective traffic lights, insufficient overhead lighting at night, debris, potholes and other neglected road conditions can cause injuries in a collision.

Unlike most other personal injury claims, the right to sue a government entity is much more short-lived than that of other claims. In government-related claims, you have six months to file. You can keep your paperwork on track and file it on time if you hire an injury lawyer to assist you. Additionally, a personal injury lawyer can mediate the case in order to obtain the maximum compensation for your injuries.
