Fatal Accident in Los Angeles Kills Sacramento Man
A motorcyclist from Sacramento was killed in a crash on westbound Sunset Boulevard at its intersection with Glenroy Avenue on July 1, 2021, at about 2:00 in the afternoon. A female passenger on the vehicle, also identified as a Sacramentan, age 36, was injured. According to a Los Angeles Police spokesperson, both the motorcyclist, age 30, and the woman were thrown from the bike when it struck a Volvo. The driver of the Volvo remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. An ongoing investigation to determine how and why the crash occurred is continuing.
Motorcyclist and Passenger Transported to Hospital
Medics transported both the motorcyclist and passenger to the hospital for treatment. The motorcycle rider died from his injuries after arriving at the hospital. The passenger was treated for her injuries. Information concerning the cause of death or the specific injuries suffered by the passenger has yet to be released. The identities of the man and woman are pending.
Motorcyclist Accident in Intersections
Intersections are the site of many horrific motorcycle accidents. This is due to the complexity of an intersection with motorists, motorcyclists, and pedestrians converging on it. Some of the most frequent types of accidents involving a motorcyclist in an intersection are:
- T-bone accident: This type of accident occurs when someone runs a red light and broadsides a vehicle legally passing through the intersection.
- Dooring: This occurs when a motorcyclist or bicyclist is traveling alongside a vehicle parked horizontally. If a passenger or driver opens their door without looking, a motorcyclist may hit it, leading to a dooring accident.
- Speeding: Driving fast in an intersection results in accidents since it makes it difficult to avoid a crash. Also, speeding causes serious pedestrian injuries and deaths.
- Rear-end collisions: Motorists often don’t see a stopped motorcyclist and rear-end them. This can cause devastating injuries to the biker.
- Failing to yield when turning: Many motorists fail to yield when making a turn in the path of a motorcyclist. This is most common in an intersection.
- Distracted driving: Driving distracted is becoming the number one reason for traffic accidents. This leads to many motorcycle accidents since the drivers are unaware of what is happening around them.
- Drunk driving: This behavior limits a driver’s cognitive and motor skills, making it harder to control their vehicle and avoid a collision with a motorcycle.
Losing a Loved One in a Motorcycle Accident
Until it happens to you, it is hard to imagine the loss of a loved one at the hands of a negligent party. The grief, anger, and hopelessness that follow can feel insurmountably painful. The need to find justice for a family member taken from us is a strong emotion and one that many find sated by a wrongful death lawsuit.
