Accident on Highway 50 Causes Rollover With Injuries

A multiple-vehicle crash in Sacramento caused injuries recently and involved a rollover. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident happened shortly before 7:00 in the evening along eastbound Highway 50 east of Watt Avenue. A minimum of two vehicles were involved.

Several People Injured in Multiple-Vehicle Crash

One vehicle experienced a rollover. Metro Fire first responders arrived to assess injuries suffered in the crash. Seven people were involved. No additional information was provided on whether they were treated at the accident scene or taken to a hospital for further treatment. The CHP is investigating to determine how the collision occurred.

Dangers of Rollovers

Rollovers in accidents can increase the severity of injuries and the risk of fatalities. This is because the occupants of the vehicle are tossed around as the vehicle rolls and can come into contact with metal, glass and other potentially harmful objects. In cases where the occupants inside are not wearing seat belts or those restraints are defective, they can be ejected, which is a common cause of accident fatalities.

Actions That Can Lead to a Rollover or Sacramento Multiple-Vehicle Crash

A vehicle can experience a rollover if it hits a guardrail, soft soil on the shoulder or is struck by another car or truck. Negligence is a common cause and when it happens due to a negligent driver or other entity, the injured person may get help from an injury attorney to get fair compensation. Some ways in which a rollover happens include:

  • Speeding can lead to a rollover or a Sacramento multiple-vehicle crash when driving around a curve in the road that is too tight.
  • Drunk drivers can cause a rollover by striking another vehicle in a T-bone accident, and end up initiating a Sacramento multiple-vehicle crash.
  • Suddenly jerking the wheel because an obstacle or animal appears in the road is enough to cause a rollover.
  • Distracted driving such as texting or talking on a cell phone can cause a Sacramento multiple-vehicle crash.
  • Auto defects that affect the engine, accelerator, brakes or steering can cause an accident, including a rollover, When a defect is the cause of a Sacramento multiple-vehicle crash, the manufacturer may be held responsible through a product liability claim.
  • T-bone accidents can happen if a driver turns in front of an oncoming car at an intersection.
  • Negligence by a government entity can result in a Sacramento multiple-vehicle crash, including a rollover.

Roof Crush in a Rollover Accident

Roof crush occurs when the supporting structure isn’t strong enough to hold. Although auto manufacturers are required to construct the roof and supporting structure of a vehicle to hold up 3.5 times the car or truck’s weight, it doesn’t always happen. For this reason, it is important that the vehicle be retained and not destroyed following an accident. In this way, the vehicle can be inspected for defects and roof strength. If those problems are found, the manufacturer can be held accountable financially.

Investigation of a Multiple-Vehicle Crash

If negligence was responsible for accident injuries, our investigators collect the evidence required to support a client’s compensation claim. They search the area where the accident happened for evidence as well as look over the police report for errors and talk to witnesses. Accident reconstruction is performed and cameras sought that might have captured the collision on tape. In this way, our injury attorneys can build a strong case, so our client can obtain the compensation they deserve.
