Sacramento Woman Identified After Fatal Roseville Solo-Vehicle Crash

I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento Wrongful Death Lawyer. Fatal solo-vehicle accidents leave many questions unanswered about what caused the crash to occur. Authorities must piece together what happened and what the potential causes of the crash were, based on their investigation and the evidence found. These questions are difficult to answer in fatal solo-vehicle crashes and can be tormenting for the family and loved ones of the deceased.

Here at the Edward A Smith Law Offices, our hearts and prayers go out to the family of Quiryat Nerari Ceyeli-Gomez. Quiryat was just identified as the young woman who perished in a solo vehicle accident in Roseville. The crash happened along Sunrise Avenue in Roseville on Monday, July 3, 2017.

What Happened?

Quiryat Nerari Ceyeli-Gomez was driving her two-door coupe heading south on Sunrise Avenue on the evening of July 3, 2017, when, for unknown reasons, she crashed into a sound wall near Oak Ridge Drive. When authorities arrived at the scene of the crash, the driver was declared deceased. It is unclear what exactly contributed to the crash and the investigation is still ongoing. Quiryat was identified by the coroner’s office two days after the accident on July 5th.

Potential Causes of a Solo-Vehicle Crash

In many cases of a fatal solo-vehicle crash, it is important to analyze all possibilities of what could have caused the crash. This is why immediately reaching out to an attorney who handles wrongful death cases is advised. Wrongful death lawyers look for every reasonable cause of death even when the possibility is small. Here are a few areas that can lead a driver to experience a solo-vehicle crash or have an increased risk of death in a crash:

Medical Emergencies

A common cause of a solo-vehicle crash can be medical emergencies that occur when driving. A medical emergency is when the driver experiences a stroke, heart attack, seizure, or falls unconscious while on the roadway. These events can lead the driver to lose control of the vehicle and exit the roadway. If possible, when a medical emergency occurs or is probable, pull off the roadway and turn the vehicle off. If you can, call 911 or get someone else to call emergency professionals for you.

Below is a Youtube video of what can happen when someone suffers a stroke while operating a vehicle.

Impaired Driving

Impaired driving can often lead to a solo-vehicle crash. When the driver is either impaired by drugs or alcohol, their reaction time on the road can decrease dramatically. This makes responding to events on the road that much more difficult. Impaired drivers can fail to turn on a curved road, misjudge the speed of approaching objects, and hit medians and barriers along the roadway. Such accidents can often cause major injury and death when involving excessive speed.

Improper Maintenance of Roadways

When a roadway has not been maintained properly, a driver may experience situations that cause their vehicle to exit the roadway. Deep potholes in a road can lead to flat tires and the loss of control of a vehicle.  Roadways that do not carry proper warning signs and lane markers can lead to driver confusion and result in miscalculating speed and or swerving to avoid oncoming traffic.

Auto Defects

Auto Defects can lead to solo-vehicle accidents and further injury when the safety features put in place fail to perform correctly. You can find auto defects that may affect your vehicle by paying attention to recall notices from your vehicle’s manufacturer. Airbags and seatbelts are both important elements in preventing serious injuries. A malfunction of either can increase the risk of death during a collision.

Avoiding Animal Collisions

Some solo-vehicle crashes occur when the driver makes the effort to avoid hitting an animal on the roadway but loses control of the vehicle in the process. In this situation, it is important to take calculated risks but not risk your life or the life of any passenger more than that of the animal. Some collisions with animals such as cows or other livestock have a higher risk of death and severe injury in the event of an accident than cats, dogs, rabbits, or squirrels.
