All three suffered critical injuries and were hospitalized. Sadly, the woman succumbed to injuries during hospitalization.

The suspected drunk driver accident happened on Richards Boulevard close to Jibboom Street, according to a spokesperson for the Sacramento Police Department. Injuries and Fatalities Resulting From Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrian accidents are among the most devastating because of the lack of protection of a walker against a motor vehicle. When a suspected drunk driver is the cause, that is even worse because the accident wouldn’t have occurred except for their irresponsible behavior. A personal injury lawyer can investigate to collect evidence that identifies who is legally responsible for the accident, which will help determine if their negligence contributed to your injuries or the loss of life.
Negligence Can Lead to Compensation for a Car Crash
Accident reconstruction, witness testimony, surveillance camera footage, the police report, and other evidence can support a wrongful death or injury claim. Losses from wages and medical expenses due to the car accident should also be documented. The grieving family must provide proof of loss of future earnings and end-of-life expenses when filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
Punitive Damages in Accident Injuries and Fatalities
When a driver exhibits egregious negligence, such as a suspected drunk driver, or causes an accident intentionally, the injured party or family may be able to ask that punitive damages be awarded. Punitive damages are in addition to those in a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit. They are meant as punishment for the offending party in an attempt to dissuade similar conduct in the future. Your attorney can advise you whether punitive damages would be warranted in your case.
