Causes of a Two-Vehicle Crash That Occurs Along a City Street
There are a number of reasons an accident can occur on a city street. While more than half of all traffic accidents happen at intersections, that doesn’t mean just driving along the street is necessarily safe. Some of these collisions occur as follows:
- A motorist backs out of a driveway or alley without looking. It’s important to not only look through your rearview mirror but to use your side mirrors to check for oncoming traffic.
- Speeding can end up causing a two-vehicle crash on a city street. Because speeders need more time to stop in an emergency situation, they can easily cause an accident.
- Tailgating can lead to a two-vehicle crash on a city street if the car in front stops to turn or enter a driveway.
- Distracted driving when a motorist is talking on their cell phone or texting, can remove their focus from the surrounding traffic and lead to an accident.
- Drunk drivers often cause accidents in all types of locations, including on city streets.
