Safety Alert: Peloton Issues Recall for Millions of Bikes Citing Fall Hazards
Pelton Responds to Reported Injuries
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there have been 35 reported incidents of individuals falling off their Peloton bikes, resulting in 13 serious injuries. Recognizing the significance of these incidents, Peloton is taking proactive steps to address the issue and ensure the safety of its users.
Peloton said its decision to initiate a recall underscores its commitment to customer safety and satisfaction. By promptly responding to the reported incidents and providing a free replacement option, the company aims to mitigate any potential risks and prevent further injuries. Peloton users are urged to take this recall seriously and reach out to Peloton as soon as possible to arrange to replace the affected bike seat post.
Identifying the Recalled Bike Models
Peloton has provided additional details to help users identify the specific bike models affected by the recall. These bike models can be recognized through several distinguishing features. One way to identify the recalled bikes is by locating a label on the inside front fork of the bike near its flywheel. Additionally, the non-swivel display of the bike can serve as an identifying characteristic. Recalled bikes also feature a red “P” logo, accompanied by the Peloton brand name in white on the bike frame.
The CPSC has shared important information regarding the manufacturing and distribution of the recalled bikes. The affected bikes were manufactured in Taiwan and were sold for an approximate retail price of $1,400. It’s important to note that these bikes were exclusively sold within the United States between January 2018 and May 2023. Customers had the option to purchase these bikes directly from Peloton’s official website, as well as from Dick’s Sporting Goods stores and their respective online platforms, including Amazon and Dick’s Sporting Goods’ website. It’s worth mentioning that the recall does not pertain to Peloton bikes sold outside of the United States.

Peloton Faced Previous Lawsuit
This recent recall by Peloton comes just four months after the company reached an agreement to compensate customers with a settlement of $19 million. As a result of 150 reported incidents where people were pulled underneath the Tread+ treadmills, Peloton had previously issued a recall for the Peloton Tread+ and Tread treadmills in 2021. Tragically, a reported death involved a 6-year-old child who was pulled under the rear of a Tread+ device.
