Florin Road Intersection Location of Another Serious Injury Accident
A serious injury accident occurred recently in Sacramento on April 20 after a pedestrian was struck by a motorcycle rider. The accident was reported in the Pocket area on Florin Road and Greenhaven Drive. Both the motorcyclist and pedestrian suffered serious injuries. Medics transported both injured patients to a hospital for care. No additional information was provided.
Area Intersection Known for the High Number of Accidents
During a four-year period between 2013 and 2017, the Florin Road/Greenhaven Drive intersection was reported as one of the most dangerous in Sacramento. Eleven accidents occurred there within four years, resulting in 14 reported injuries. If you suffered an injury due to a negligent driver or motorcyclist, you may be able to place a claim for compensation.
Intersection Collisions
The Federal Highway Administration reported that around half or more of all traffic fatalities occur at intersections. The agency is conducting research on intersection design and driver behavior to make them safer. Some of the leading causes of intersection accidents are:
- Red-light runners are the main cause of a serious injury accident at an intersection.
- Speeding is responsible for many accidents at and near intersections because the driver doesn’t have enough time to slow down to avoid a collision.
- Distracted driving can cause a serious injury accident when the driver is occupied by texting or talking on a cell phone. These distractions can result in a rear-end crash at an intersection.
- Drunk driving is still a major concern on the nation’s roadways. A drunk driver exhibits impaired judgment, lowered reflexes, and even their vision is affected, easily leading to an accident.
- Fatigued driving is becoming more of a problem on area roads because so many people work at multiple jobs and keep late hours. A driver who is fatigued has trouble staying alert to surrounding traffic and can fall asleep.
Proving a Pedestrian Accident Injury
For an injured pedestrian to place a claim for compensation, it has to be shown that another person or entity was responsible for the serious injury accident. Over our many years as a law firm, we’ve successfully handled many such cases. Our investigators, resources, and go-to-it attitude are important to obtain the compensation our client deserves.
Conducting the Investigation to Gather Evidence
Investigating to collect the evidence needed is necessary whether negotiating on the client’s behalf with the insurance company or taking the case to court. Some of the ways in which evidence is gathered include:
- The investigators go to the accident scene to recover evidence before it is covered over or lost.
- Video evidence of the crash is looked for at nearby traffic and business surveillance cameras.
- The investigators perform accident reconstruction, which details the positioning of the vehicles, pedestrians, or others. This type of evidence is widely accepted both in court and by insurance companies.
- The report of the serious injury accident compiled by police is checked for errors. Mistakes in the police report can affect an injured party’s ability to place a compensation claim.
- Witnesses to the accident are sought and interviewed. Often, witness reports explain how the accident happened. In some cases, a witness captured the serious injury accident on tape.
Our lawyers use the compiled evidence to build a case that supports our client’s claim.
