Accident on 64th Street Occurs When Vehicle Hits Tree
A single-vehicle accident in Sacramento on January 5 resulted in a fatality after the car crashed into a tree. The accident happened on 64th Street between McMahon Drive and 39th Avenue shortly before midnight. When officers with the Sacramento Police Department responding to the call arrived at the scene, first aid was given to the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Driver in Single-Vehicle Accident Declared Deceased at the Collision Scene
Efforts to resuscitate the driver failed, and medics with the Sacramento Fire Department pronounced him deceased at the accident scene. At this point, the reason the fatal crash occurred has not been determined. The accident is being investigated by authorities to determine the cause. The name of the deceased driver has not been released pending notification of the family.
When a Loved One Dies
We all dread the moment that we find out a loved one has died. In some cases, it is expected, but in many others, it is not. This includes learning that a family member has died due to the negligence of another driver. When this happens, loved ones have two questions: when did it happen and why. The latter is not so easy to answer, especially when they are killed in a single-vehicle accident since the only one who can respond is unable to talk for themselves.
That is where a law firm with a strong and experienced investigative team can help decipher what occurred. They go to the crash scene and use accident reconstruction techniques to go through the many scenarios and determine liability. Considering that a hit-and-run driver may be at fault, they also search for remnants of the fleeing vehicle or other evidence. The investigators talk to witnesses who may have seen the accident occur and look for surveillance videos that digitally captured the crash. If faulty guardrails are involved, the investigators will examine them for defects and a claim placed against the government agency in charge. In addition, the investigators check for defective auto parts such as tires or brakes that might have made it impossible for the driver to stop in time.
How a Wrongful Death Lawsuit Helps
The family is usually awash in grief and a sense of helplessness at first and may even claim themselves. However, they generally face the financial loss of support the decedent may have provided with time. This is a difficult time for many, and filing a wrongful death lawsuit may help. While nothing will resolve the grief they feel or the loss of their loved one’s presence, the wrongful death lawsuit will make it possible to move on financially. Some of the damages the family can reclaim with the help of an injury lawyer are:
- The cost of funeral and burial expenses are recoverable.
- The lost wages and benefits that would have been provided by the deceased from the time of their demise to the age of retirement can be recovered.
- The loss of the support, training, and guidance the decedent would have provided to children can be recovered.
- A spouse can file a claim for the loss of consortium.
