Two People Hospitalized Following Moonshine Road Single-Vehicle Crash

A single-vehicle crash north of Grass Valley ended up with two people being hospitalized on January 16. The collision occurred along Moonshine Road near Camptonville around 1:42 p.m. The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office as well as the California Highway Patrol (CHP), responded to the accident scene.

Determination Being Made as to Cause of Single-Vehicle Crash

It was reported that two patients were being taken to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. A tow truck was called to recover the Subaru Outback they had been riding in. An investigation is underway to determine how the accident occurred.

Neglected Roadways Can Cause a Solo Vehicle Accident

Roads that are not properly maintained can lead to a single-vehicle collision. Potholes, cracks in the pavement and other roadway hazards may cause drivers to lose control of their vehicle or to swerve off the road in order to avoid the hazardous obstacle. In addition to potholes and other road defects, poor visibility due to inadequate lighting can also be a cause of single-vehicle crashes.

It is the responsibility of the municipality, state or federal government to maintain roads and provide safe driving conditions for all motorists. When these entities fail to do so, they can be held liable for any single-vehicle accident injuries that occur as a result of their negligence. Because someone who is injured because of a negligent government entity has only six months in which to file a claim, contacting an accident attorney for help may be a good idea.

Auto Defects Can Cause an Accident

Common auto defects that can lead to a solo vehicle crash include faulty brakes, defects in tires and steering problems. Faulty brakes are one of the most common auto defects that can contribute to a single-vehicle accident. Defects in tires can also contribute to crashes. Tires are responsible for maintaining contact between a car and the road and provide traction. If the tread is worn unevenly, separation occurs or a blowout happens, this can lead to a loss of control as the car may slip on slick roads or lack adequate grip when turning.

Defective steering systems can also contribute to single-vehicle crashes. If a vehicle’s steering system is not functioning properly, the driver may be unable to maneuver their vehicle and could risk losing control or running into obstacles.

The Importance of Retaining a Vehicle After an Accident

When an accident occurs, especially one that results in injuries, it is important to retain the vehicle. This enables an engineer working for your injury lawyer to examine the vehicle for defects. If it is determined that a defective part led to your accident or contributed to it, you may be able to recover compensation by filing an auto product liability claim against the part maker, manufacturer and others in the production line to recover the compensation you deserve.
