Passenger Dies in Solano County Rollover
California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a local man passed away during a Solano County rollover on Sunday, January 19, 2020. The decedent has since been identified by Solano County Sheriff Department authorities as Jeremy Perry, a 31-year-old resident of Suisun City. In addition to Perry, one other person suffered major injuries during the collision. CHP indicated that the crash involved one vehicle and happened between Fairfield and Vacaville.
Crash Details
According to CHP officers, the accident happened in the very early morning at around 3:45 a.m. on the westbound side of Highway Interstate 80. A 37-year-old Vacaville man had been driving a blue Hyundai Elantra on the highway approaching the Manuel Campos Parkway exit. The Hyundai reportedly drifted to the right and eventually traveled off the road. After driving off the right-hand shoulder, the Hyundai overturned, rolling multiple times before coming to a stop.
First responders were dispatched to the crash scene immediately after CHP received a call about the incident. When officers arrived, they discovered that Perry had been ejected from the front passenger seat while the vehicle was rolling. Tragically, Perry was pronounced deceased on-site. The driver of the vehicle was found with severe injuries. Medical responders had the man placed on an ambulance and driven to the Kaiser hospital in Vacaville for emergency care.
Investigation
The case is still under investigation, and police have reported that DUI is a suspected factor. Officers have asked that anybody with relevant information about the collision call 1 (800) 835-5247 or (707) 428-2100 in order to report what they know.
