Compensation for a Negligent Driver’s Car Accident
If another driver’s negligence caused your injury in a highway collision, you may be entitled to compensation. The severity of your injuries and the circumstances of the accident will determine the type of damages you can receive. The following are among them:
- Medical expenses
- Lost wages
- Pain and suffering
How an Injury Lawyer Works to Locate a Hit-and-Run Driver
It is important to contact an injury lawyer if you have been involved in a hit-and-run accident. Your lawyer can assist you in locating the responsible driver and taking legal action against them. Eyewitnesses or dash cam footage may be used to collect evidence at the scene of the crash. To identify the driver, they can also work with law enforcement, look for video footage from surveillance cameras and perform accident reconstruction to determine liability.
What Can Those Injured in a Major Injury Collision Do to Recover Compensation?
Those who are injured in an accident by a fleeing driver have a few options for legal recourse if the responsible driver is located. Depending on the circumstances and severity of injuries, victims may be able to file a personal injury lawsuit or even pursue criminal charges against the driver. An experienced injury lawyer will be able to help you determine which option is right for your case and ensure that the responsible driver is held accountable once they are located.
Contacting an Injury Lawyer
To determine what type of compensation you may be entitled to, it is important to speak with an experienced personal injury lawyer. An injury attorney can offer a free review of your case and guide you on the best course of action to recover maximum compensation for your injuries and losses. This enables the injured person to concentrate on healing from their trauma, knowing their case is in good hands. You owe nothing unless your case is won.
Are There Other Options to Recover Compensation?
If the hit-and-run driver cannot be located following a major injury collision, another option exists. The injured party can make use of their uninsured/underinsured auto policy to collect compensation for their injury. Many California drivers have this policy. If the injured person doesn’t happen to have it but another family member does, their policy can be used instead. The rates remain unaffected.
