Crash on Interstate 80 in Sacramento Involves Two Cars and a Pickup
A three-vehicle accident causing injuries occurred along eastbound I-80 in Sacramento. After the initial collision between two cars, they both crashed into a pickup on the highway. The accident happened just east of the northbound Truxel Road entrance ramp at around 6:09 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). It involved a Mazda CX, Toyota Prius, and a Toyota Tacoma pickup. All of the vehicles ended up in the center divider, leaving debris strewn across three lanes of the highway. A caller from one of the vehicles phoned 911 to report the accident and called for emergency responders because injuries had occurred in the crash. The CHP is handling the investigation into the accident to determine how it occurred and to assign fault. As of the time if this report, the nature and intensity of the injuries has not been announced by authorities.
Three-Vehicle Accidents Commonly Cause Injuries
Accidents involving three vehicles can happen anywhere and are common along California highways. Because of congestion, a collision can often involve other motorists, complicating the issue of liability since no one wants to be responsible. This is one of the reasons why it is important to consult with an experienced attorney if you are injured. All of those involved will probably seek legal assistance, including the driver at fault, because they don’t want their insurance rates to go up or be faced with a lawsuit for damages. Having a lawyer by your side protects you from allegations that are untrue and helps you get the compensation you need to pay for your medical costs and other expenses.
Injuries in a Collision
Injuries are common in a motor vehicle crash, especially if it involves several cars. Some of the injuries that can occur include:
- Broken bones
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Abdominal trauma
- Burns
- Spinal cord damage
Seeking Help From a Personal Injury Lawyer
A personal injury lawyer with experience in handling claims caused by a three-vehicle accident can protect your rights. At our firm, we use our skills to do just that from the get-go. Our investigators head to the crash site right away to begin gathering evidence to support your claim. They often perform accident reconstruction, which shows how the vehicles were positioned before the crash, how it occurred, and where the cars ended up. This sort of evidence is often used by insurance companies when processing a claim. In addition, the investigators look for other evidence such as camera surveillance from businesses and traffic lights, which shows the accident in real-time.
Government Negligence Can Contribute to an Accident
Our investigators will also look for signs that negligence by a government entity contributed to the crash, such as overhanging tree limbs, faded road markings, and missing signs. If a government entity is responsible, a claim may be placed for compensation. However, the statute of limitations against a government entity is much shorter than for other personal injuries, so contacting a lawyer as soon as possible is advisable. Once the evidence is gathered, it is given to our lawyers to build a strong case for our client and against the at-fault party. Depending on your injuries and financial needs, the lawyers will either negotiate for you with the insurance company or prepare a case for court if necessary.
