Accident on I-80 Between a Semi and Two Large Pickups Causes Fatality
A traffic accident in Dixon on May 10 resulted in a fatality when a big rig and two large pickups collided. The crash occurred along westbound Interstate 80 around Pedrick Road at about 6:53 a.m. The big rig, along with a 2015 Ford F-450 and 2015 Ford F-650, were involved, according to the Solano California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Details of the Traffic Accident Fatality
The driver of the Ford F-650 died in the collision. The truck the deceased individual was driving was transporting a load of gravel when the accident occurred, which further complicated the situation since it was more difficult for rescue and cleanup personnel to reach them. In addition, there was a long backup of traffic due to the accident all the way to Davis, and gravel was strewn across several lanes of the highway. The roadway was reported as reopened shortly after 11:00 a.m., but tow trucks and clean-up crews were still working at the scene.
Multiple-Vehicle Accidents and Liability
A traffic fatality accident can involve more than one car, and multiple drivers may be to blame. An injury lawyer can assist you in such situations. When proving negligence caused a traffic accident, an investigation must be conducted. A wrongful death investigation is conducted in order to enable a grieving family to file a wrongful death lawsuit to recover compensation. Some of the types of negligence displayed by drivers that can cause or contribute to a traffic accident include:
- Speeding is a major cause of all varieties of accidents. Because the driver is going fast, it may be difficult or impossible to stop in time to avoid causing a collision or becoming involved in one up ahead.
- Distracted driving is a common cause of accidents, including those involving multiple vehicles. Looking away for a few seconds to read or send a text message, change the radio station, and other activities is long enough to cause a traffic collision.
- Drunk or drugged driving, despite police vigilance and public education efforts, is a major cause of a traffic accident.
- Fatigued driving is another reason for traffic collisions. The driver who is too tired exhibits many of the symptoms of one who is inebriated.
Losing Someone You Love Unexpectedly
Families are often consumed by grief after a loved one passes away. However, negligence is a much more tragic cause of death. Wrongful death suits are often filed by families who experience such a tragedy. They will still mourn, but they will be prevented from experiencing financial hardship, and the negligent person or entity responsible for their loved one’s death will be held accountable.
Damages That Are Awarded in a Wrongful Death Claim
In a wrongful death lawsuit, the following damages are commonly recovered:
- It is possible to claim burial and funeral expenses.
- All earnings the decedent would have accumulated until retirement, such as wages, pensions, insurance benefits, tips and bonuses can be reclaimed.
- As well as loss of consortium, the spouse can claim the loss of affection and love that the decedent would have provided had he or she lived.
- Children of the deceased may be compensated for the guidance, comfort, and nurturing they would otherwise receive from the deceased.
- Perhaps the decedent prepared taxes, maintained vehicles and lawns, provided childcare, and helped other family members. Costs associated with those activities can be reimbursed.
