Accident on the South Sac Freeway Occurs Near Broadway Off-Ramp

A minor injury was reported in a December 13 traffic collision in Sacramento that occurred between two vehicles. The incident happened around 8:27 p.m. along the South Sacramento Freeway just south of the Broadway off-ramp when the collision occurred. One of the people involved in the collision was a woman who was eight months pregnant, and an infant was in the vehicle.

One Patient Transported to Hospital Following Freeway Traffic Collision

Medics with the Sacramento Fire Department reported a minor injury in the crash, and at least one person was transported to UC Davis Medical Center for further attention and evaluation. An accident investigation is being conducted by the CHP to find out which driver was at fault in the collision and how it occurred.

Minor Injuries That Turn Major

Because of the adrenaline rush someone feels when they are involved in a traffic collision, the symptoms of a more serious injury may not appear for hours, weeks, or even months. This is one of the reasons it is important to seek medical attention following any car accident, even though your symptoms are minor. The other reason is that it establishes proof that the crash occurred and can be invaluable if accident injuries cause you to place a compensation claim later.

Recoverable Compensation in a Traffic Collision

Traffic accidents occur when they are least expected, and many result in injuries or fatalities. When someone suffers an injury, they can claim compensation from the negligent driver or other entity that caused the traffic collision. At AutoAccident.com, that is our business…to get you the compensation you deserve while you concentrate on recovering from your injuries. Some of the areas in which compensation can be recovered include:

  • Medical expenses caused by the accident can be recovered. From the ambulance fee, hospitalization and physicians’ bills to medications, rehabilitation, tests and surgeries, the injured party should not be expected to have to pay any of those expenses. If the injury continues into the future, those costs will be factored into the expenses.
  • Lost wages from the inability to work can be recovered as well. This category includes wages, bonuses, tips, and other perks the person normally receives in their job. Should the injured party be unable to return to work due to permanent disability or have to take a lower-paying job, that amount is recoverable. In the case of a permanent disability, the wages are calculated until the retirement age of the individual, including pension benefits, insurance and more. In the event the injured party takes a lower-paying job, the difference in pay is calculated and factored into the settlement.
  • Compensation for pain and suffering doesn’t necessarily involve only physical trauma. Many injured parties lose the loss of consortium, which is the personal relationship between spouses, and suffer anxiety, relive the accident in nightmares, and have other psychological and emotional trauma. At its extreme, some people develop symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and have to seek professional treatment for it. Those costs can be recovered.
