Minor Killed After Being Served Alcoholic Beverage
A tragic early morning traffic fatality closed major streets in Folsom recently when the driver lost control of her vehicle. According to police, the car overturned before it hit a tree. A witness to the accident who called the police said that he was unable to reach the vehicle.
Details of the Accident
20-year-old Yasmina Azamatova, an Antelope resident, went to a Folsom restaurant prior to the accident and was served alcohol. At about 2:00 in the morning, she got into her car and drove up to East Bidwell, where her vehicle left the road near Oak Avenue Parkway, striking the median and rolling into the nearby tree. Azamatova’s vehicle quickly caught on fire, and she died in the crash. According to reports by the Folsom Police Department, speed is suspected as a precipitating cause of the accident. Authorities are using a drone to determine why the accident happened by reconstructing the path Azamatova’s vehicle took. The drone will be able to determine the vehicle’s speed. A GoFundMe page has been created on behalf of Yasmina Azamatova and her family to help cover her funeral expenses.
Serving Alcohol to a Minor
Two people were arrested by Alcohol Beverage Control authorities recently for selling alcohol to a minor who became a traffic fatality after leaving the establishment. Jae Jo, a Sacramento resident, age 28, and Tomas Green, a Folsom resident, age 47, were placed under arrest. In addition to charging them with selling to a minor, Green was also charged with selling alcohol to another patron who was obviously drunk. The incidents occurred at a restaurant on Palladio Parkway, which is located in Folsom. Authorities with the Folsom Police Department and California Highway Patrol (CHP) helped ABC authorities in the investigation, which led to the arrests of the two restaurant employees. Disciplinary action is being sought by the ABC against the restaurant for violating Section 25658(c) and the for continuing to serve someone already under the influence.
