Cap City Freeway Accident Causes Minor Injuries

A multiple-vehicle crash in West Sacramento on the Cap City Freeway on May 7 caused minor trauma to those involved. The accident happened on westbound U.S. 50 just west of the Harbor Boulevard off-ramp around 11:00 a.m. West Sacramento police, as well as officers with the California Highway Patrol, responded to the accident call.

Traffic Delayed by Multiple-Vehicle Crash

The collision involved a Nissan Pathfinder, a Lexus sedan, a Tesla, and a pickup. The collision blocked several of the lanes. Medics arrived at the scene to evaluate injuries and determined they were minor in nature.

Determining Liability in a Multiple-Vehicle Crash

In simple accidents, it can be fairly easy to determine which driver or other entity was at fault. This is an important aspect of an injured party’s ability to claim compensation and recover damages. However, when a multiple-vehicle accident is the cause of injuries, it can be more complicated.

Multiple Drivers May Have Been Negligent

More than one negligent driver can be, and often is, to blame for their involvement in a multiple-vehicle crash. For example, one driver might have been tailgating, another speeding, and yet another distracted by their cell phone. An injury lawyer has the ability to investigate an accident to hold all at-fault parties responsible. When an injured person is facing high medical expenses, is unable to work, and suffering from their trauma, it’s only fair and reasonable to hold those at-fault parties responsible.

Evidence That Supports an Injury Claim

A strong claim for compensation after an accident injury is one that has the evidence needed to prove the other driver/entity was negligent. Injury lawyers examine some of the following areas to collect that evidence such as:

  • Obtaining a copy of the CHP traffic accident report online through their website or by mailing a written request can help support your claim.
  • Performing a reconstruction of the accident shows how it occurred, often pointing to the negligent party.
  • Interviewing witnesses not only provides corroborating statements on how the multiple-vehicle collision occurred but in what order the injured party’s vehicle was struck.
  • Reviewing surveillance cameras in the area to see if the multiple-vehicle crash was captured on tape.

Should I File a Personal Injury Claim if My Trauma Was Minor?

When deciding whether or not to file a personal injury claim, the severity of your injuries is one of the most important considerations. For instance, if your medical bills totaled more than your deductible, filing a personal injury claim could help you recover these costs. Additionally, if the accident caused emotional distress or other non-medical damages, then a personal injury claim could potentially help you recover compensation for those costs as well.

Delayed Symptoms After an Accident Indicating a Serious Health Problem

Even if your injuries were minor at first, delayed symptoms may appear later, indicating a serious health problem. If this is the case, you should seriously consider filing a personal injury claim to help cover the costs of treating these issues.
