Motorcycle Crash Fatality Reported in Walerga Road Accident

A motorcycle crash fatality occurred in Antelope on June 16 when a vehicle turned into its path. The collision occurred along southbound Walerga Road near Elverta Road during the evening hours. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) police report stated that the rider was going south along Walerga when the driver of a Mazda was attempting to turn into the parking lot at WinCo Foods.

The rider ran into the car and perished at the accident scene. CHP traffic investigators closed the southbound Walerga Road lanes between Shandwick Drive and Elverta Road as they worked to determine fault in the fatal collision. The Mazda driver remained at the accident scene. Officials have recently identified the deceased as Jason Porter, 39, of Sacramento. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the Porter family.

A Vehicle Turns in Front of a Motorcyclist

One of the most common and deadly motorcycle accidents occurs when a vehicle suddenly turns in front of an oncoming motorcyclist. This type of motorcycle crash fatality is often caused by a lack of awareness or respect for riders on the part of other drivers. When a vehicle turns abruptly into the path of an approaching motorcycle, it leaves the rider with no time to react and avoid a collision. Even if the rider is able to take evasive action, they may still be injured due to their smaller size and lack of protection relative to other vehicles on the road.

The consequences of such collisions can range from minor injuries to catastrophic or even fatal outcomes. The most common injuries reported in these types of crashes include broken bones, burns, lacerations, spinal cord injuries and head trauma. Other more serious consequences can include paralysis or death.

Wrongful Death Damages That Can Be Recovered

Wrongful death claims can be filed by immediate family members following a motorcycle crash fatality, such as spouses, children, etc. As well as relieving their financial burden, this is a way to make amends for the loss they suffered. You may be able to recover the following damages:

  • Expenses associated with funerals and burials can be recouped.
  • Earnings of the deceased can be recovered until retirement age. Other recoverable job perks include insurance benefits, pensions, bonuses and bonuses.
  • The spouse can also claim damages for future loss of affection and support in addition to loss of consortium.
  • There may be some cases in which the beneficiaries can recover the loss of inheritance, which is what they would have inherited had their loved one lived to see the end of their lives.
  • A child’s loss of guidance, moral support, and nurturing can be reimbursed if their parent died in an accident caused by negligence.
  • Household services, including chores around the home, can be reimbursed to families following the death of a loved one.
